Bigfoot Guitars is a one stop shop for guitar repairs, and custom guitar building.
In india, when a musician wants to buy a guitar, it’s as simple as ‘Get one of the 20 guitars hanging on a rack and take it home’. There is no option to set it up a particular way, or mess with the electronics to make it perfect for someone. Custom built guitars are not even existent in North India at the moment. As a result, most picky musicians (aren’t we all??) out there are always fretting (no pun intended!) about how to get someone coming in from abroad to carry various instruments and add ons for them.
Here is hopefully the one place that you can be certain will deliver! Guitar building is a personal passion and that reflects in the kind of work I do. There are no shortcuts and no jugaad! ( well, maybe a little )
The way I look at it, it’s not really just a business proposition, but a way of life – I love guitars & always will. It has been a long, ardous, and often frustrating journey trying to figure out various parts and repairs but the juice is well worth the squeeze!!
Here, every instrument is carefully crafted by hand, and made using top quality tone woods. The beauty of custom made instruments is that you can choose your own preferred types of wood, and also the design of the guitar (Electric or Acoustic). A guitar will typically take 4-6 weeks to complete.
The Blog is a platform for me to document and showcase the building process, while keeping it light and fun. There will be the occasional rant about whatever’s on my mind, but hey, that’s what a blog is for! Also, I will try and throw in little bits of information about the process of building while dealing with the limitations of accessing specific tools and machines in India. There, the disclaimer’s done! I’ll be uploading posts twice a week (hopefully!) so keep checking back for updates. I look forward to hearing about your experiences or queries about Guitar building, or anything else you think is relevant
